We are Our Worst Critics?

Tyler Perry - Divorce in the Black

Over the last couple of weeks, Tyler Perry’s movie "Divorce in the Black" has received a mix of critiques. My timeline has been buzzing with posts about his movie, whether the reviews are positive or negative. Interestingly, many comments say, “I haven’t seen it yet, but let me go check it out.” This buzz has catapulted the movie to the number-one spot on Amazon Prime.

What many fail to realize is that this was an Amazon release, not a theatrical one. It was created specifically for TV. Most of the reviews I've seen have come from people of color, criticizing the acting or the storyline. Personally, I enjoyed it.

This raises an important question: 🙋🏽‍♀️

  1. Do we critique the millions of other movies from our counterparts with the same intensity?
  2. Why are we so hard on our own?

Tyler Perry has countless testimonies from his cast, praising him as the most generous employer they've had. He is resilient and creates movies that resonate deeply with our culture.

What I admire about Tyler is his deep understanding of his audience. Those who like him, love him. His true fans appreciate his art of moviemaking. I truly believe he had a business coach or advisor come into his business and help him. He speaks to his target audience and isn't worried about the haters or critiques.

It's likely that he had a business audit to identify key areas for improvement, address major issues, and refine his strategies. Over the years, I’ve seen Tyler Perry grow his company and build his production studio. Many actors and actresses testify that he’s the only one who has paid them their worth. This approach has undoubtedly contributed to his status as a billionaire.

This brings me to how a business audit can help you. An audit helps you identify key areas needing growth and development. Once the audit is completed, an analysis is provided with steps on how to fix the issues at hand.

In my business, we offer comprehensive audits designed to:

✅ Approve and enhance your current strategies.

✅ Fix key areas that may be hindering your growth.

✅ Identify and address major issues you might not even be aware of.

If you're looking to achieve sustained success and resonate deeply with your target market, a business audit could be the transformative step you need.
