Who Do You Desire To Be| Unstoppable Community | Entrepreneurs, Aspiring Entrepreneurs and Professionals Headed To The Top

I was watching a motivational speech by Steve Harvey (comedian, actor, talk show host, motivational speaker, and author).  He was speaking about the person he used to be compared to the person he is now and the person he is becoming. He was sharing that there are people who try to hold him to his past, meaning his mistakes, issues, and problems.  He is a new person, and he is grateful for his past because it shaped him into who he is now. God reshaped and re-molded him. He is not ashamed of his past, but he is excited about his future. He is now becoming who he desires to be and who (I believe) God desires him to be.

We get so held up by our past mistakes and issues. In my book, Activating Your Gifts, I have an activity titled “Identifying Your Regrets.” We have to learn how to identify the regrets, issues, and bad experiences of our past in order to become the people we desire to be. That is basically what Steve Harvey was saying. He took responsibility for his past, he is grateful, and now he is moving on. The longer you hold onto regrets, the longer you stay in the same place. Albert Einstein has been quoted as saying, “The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing expecting different results.”

Do something different and change the course of your life…….

Once you move on from your past, how do you describe the person that you are becoming? What type of person do you need to be? In this new season of your life, would you like to travel the world? Be a missionary? Run a non-profit that helps the elderly, youth, or victims of domestic violence? Do you want to run a business and walk in your gifts? What type of legacy do you want to leave to your children, your family? Now is the time to refocus, leave your past behind, and become the person you desire to be.

I think about Malcom X, formally known as Malcolm Little. He lived from 1925–1965. Even though both names represent the same man—a great man—he was a different person under each name. Malcolm Little’s father died when he was young, and his mother was placed in a mental institution. He was in the streets, which eventually led him to prison. However, Malcolm Little allowed his past to shape his future. He transitioned and became Malcom X, one of the most influential men in American History. Malcolm X became a minister of the Nation of Islam and a Human Rights Activist.

My question to you is: Who Do You Desire to Become? There is a gift inside of you that is so unique and amazing, and if you truly activated it, you could change the world.
